ABOUT THE ROLE
As our UNLOCKED intern, you’ll join our straight-talking creative agency in Edinburgh.
You’ll use creativity to connect people and brands in order to drive results that count. Developing your skills in creative concepting, strategic campaign planning and building client relationships, all while learning to build brand you.
For Unionites, no two days or the same. So if you join us this summer there’s a whole host of things you could get up to. From attending shoot days to pitching for new clients, getting involved in Union Group social events and dressing up as a giant unicorn (as last year’s interns will tell you)!
You’ll work with clients across sectors including tourism, alcohol, finance, healthcare, food, government and charities.
As a group, we have a huge range of areas that you can gain experience in:
Data: using data to build deeper understanding of our clients’ customers
Digital development: building websites, online tools, creating emails and more
Digital media planning: SEO, PPC and everything in between
Strategy and insight: dig deep into research to find out what our clients’ customers really want
Creative: come up with ideas in response to client briefs (if you like words and pictures, this one’s for you)
Print and production: producing everything from brochures to event stands to cupcakes
Events and experiential: taking ideas and bringing them to life at festivals, in shopping centres and train stations
Film production: videography, photography and a lot of cast wrangling
Animation: bringing ideas to life in video form
Account management: keeping all of the above in check, on time and on budget
If you’d like to do a bit of everything, great! If you want to specialise in a certain area, also great! We can tailor your internship to suit you.
DAY IN THE LIFE OF AT UNION GROUP
As part of our award-winning team based in Union Group's Edinburgh office, you’ll have hands-on involvement across everything we’re up to! A typical day could look something like this…
👨💻 Start your morning with a coffee and a chat with our clients to learn about upcoming projects and priorities
📊 Next up, meet with strategy to hear about the research they’ve been doing for the creative brief you’re writing
🔍 Delve into data with Data Dan to find new opportunities to reach our client’s customers
✏️ Take your learnings and turn it into a creative brief, ready to share with the creative team
💬 Chat with the creative and strategy team to work together and brainstorm ideas to solve the brief
🍎 Go to a lunchtime training session with the Marketing Society to learn about all things AI and advertising
🎨 Get creative and present your ideas back to our Creative Director, take on their feedback and develop your work
🔁 Come back tomorrow, and do something completely different!
