ABOUT JOHN DOE GROUP
John Doe is an award-winning, creative culture agency. We attract attention for ambitious brands through stand-out work that is culturally tuned, creatively led and strategically grounded in real insight.
We’re a production house for stories, bringing together research and consumer insight, strategy, creative, content production, events and experiential, social, influencer partnerships, media relations and earned amplification.
Our job is to understand what people care about, create ideas worth paying attention to, and build stories that travel through Content, Coverage and Conversation.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As our UNLOCKED Intern, you’ll join the John Doe team in London and get hands-on experience of how ideas become stories, campaigns, content and live experiences.
You’ll work alongside strategists, creatives, publicists, producers and social specialists, contributing to real projects for ambitious brands from day one. Our London team works with brands including Meta, Guinness, Echo Falls and Vinted, so you’ll get exposure to different sectors, audiences and cultural challenges.
This is an internship for someone who wants to understand how culture, creativity and communications come together. One day you could be researching an emerging cultural trend, the next helping shape a media story, identifying creators for a campaign, supporting content production or helping deliver a live activation.
You’ll see how we create work that earns attention and gets people talking.
You’ll gain practical experience in:
Culture, research and insight - understanding audiences, behaviours, trends and the cultural conversations shaping our work.
Creative campaigns and storytelling - seeing how insights become ideas and how ideas become stories people want to watch, read, share and talk about.
Media relations and earned amplification - learning how the media landscape works, developing story angles and supporting outreach to journalists.
Social, creators and influencers - exploring online communities, identifying relevant voices and understanding how stories travel through culture and algorithms.
Events and experiential - helping bring ideas to life through live activations, launches and cultural moments.
Content and creative production - working with our studio and production teams to see how social content, campaign assets and visual storytelling are made.
Measurement and evaluation - tracking coverage, conversation, engagement and other signals to understand what worked and what we can learn.
Depending on your interests and the projects happening during your placement, there will also be opportunities to spend time with different specialisms across the agency.
DAY IN THE LIFE AT JOHN DOE GROUP
We believe great creative work starts with curiosity.
Our teams are always asking questions: Who are we trying to reach, really? What do they care about? What are they watching, reading, listening to and talking about? And why would anyone care about the thing we’re making?
As an UNLOCKED Intern, you’ll be encouraged to ask those questions too.
You’ll be part of a collaborative, fast-moving agency environment where strategy, creativity, media, social, production and events work together. You’ll be expected to contribute ideas, share your perspective, ask questions and get involved.
You won’t spend your internship watching from the sidelines. You’ll learn by doing, with support from people across the agency.
KEY QUALITIES
There isn’t one type of person who belongs at John Doe. Our agency is made up of different personalities, backgrounds, skills and perspectives, and we want UNLOCKED to reflect that.
You don’t need previous agency experience or a PR degree. What matters is an interest in culture, creativity, brands, media and the world around you, and a genuine desire to learn.
We think you’ll thrive here if you are:
Curious - you notice what’s happening in culture and want to understand why it matters.
Proactive - you’re willing to get involved, try things and take responsibility.
Creative-minded - you enjoy ideas and storytelling, whether your thing is writing, design, content, events, social media or something else entirely.
Collaborative - you enjoy working with other people and understand that the strongest ideas are rarely built alone.
Energetic and engaged - you bring enthusiasm to what you do and are ready to make the most of the experience.
Above all, we’re looking for potential - not a finished CV.
