AWARD-WINNING UNLOCKED INTERNSHIP PROGRAMME EXPANDS TO LONDON
The expansion to London for Summer 2026 marks its biggest evolution since launching in Scotland four years ago and taking the programme one step closer to its ambition of becoming a UK-wide initiative.
Founded by John Doe Group in 2023, UNLOCKED was created to open doors into the creative industries for emerging talent from underrepresented backgrounds, with a focus on marginalised ethnicities and low-income backgrounds, building a more inclusive and diverse sector.
Since then, the programme has gone from strength to strength, creating 46 paid internship opportunities with some of Scotland’s leading agencies and organisations across the country.
The programme exists to help remove some of the barriers that can make a first step into the industry feel out of reach. The internships are paid at Real Living Wage, and recruitment is focused on potential, passion, motivation and curiosity, rather than previous industry experience or personal connections.
Each placement offers a minimum four-week paid opportunity, unless otherwise stated, with roles taking place between July - September. Applicants do not need to be studying a creative subject - or studying at all - to apply.
The programme is open to people aged 18 and over from a marginalised ethnic background and/or a low-income background who can demonstrate a genuine interest in the creative industries.
OUR PARTNERS
For Summer 2026, it is launching in London with an initial group of partners, including Heaps + Stacks, John Doe, Flabbergast, Munch PR and The Heard, each offering a paid internship opportunity.
UNLOCKED is actively looking for additional London-based agencies, brands, organisations and businesses to join the Summer 2026 programme. Partners commit to offering a paid internship opportunity and giving an emerging talent the chance to gain meaningful, hands-on experience within their organisation.
