UNLOCKED INTERNSHIPS

The UNLOCKED Internship Programme was launched in 2023 with the aim to help kickstart opportunities for underrepresented emerging talent, looking to get their break in the UK’s creative industries. In year one, we opened up eight paid internship opportunities for emerging creatives in some of the most exciting organisations and agencies based here in Scotland.

The programme is founded by integrated comms agency, John Doe Group.

WHY WE’RE DOING THIS

Non-white ethnicities and those from low-income backgrounds are massively underrepresented in the creative industries. To help change this, the programme is created to ‘unlock’ new internships, with the clear future goal of fairer and greater representation.

HOW IT WORKS

Each of our UNLOCKED founding partner organisations commit to offering:

A minimum 4 week internship (unless stated otherwise)
Takes place across July to September
Paid at real living wage

There’s no maximum age limit however all applicants must be 18+. While all applications will be considered, priority criteria for placements are those from non-white ethnicities and / or low-income backgrounds.

Internships are awarded not on the basis of prior experience but rather due to a candidate’s passion, motivation and drive to learn. Applicants do not need to be an official 'creative’, studying a creative or marketing subject or indeed studying at all apply - all we ask is that you have a clear interest in the creative industries and a natural curiosity to learn more.

Successful applicants will be invited to an interview between mid May - June to help us match and align potential candidates with certain roles. This process will ensure we are aligning the right candidate with the right opportunity.
